Open Question: Is the car loan cosigner liable in human injury?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 20:04:44 GMT)
I am doing a lease buyout with my dad (jointly) and my girlfriend is the primary driver. The car registration and car insurance is under her name and I am named the other driver in the car insurance policy. My question is if my girlfriend gets into a car accident and the individual who is hurt sue's my girlfriend and she cannot pay, is my dad Cosigner to the car loan liable to lose his house since he's a cosigner to a loan me and my dad took out. Kinda confusing.

Open Question: IF I put a Dashboard Video Camera in my truck will I get a discount on my insurance?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 19:43:23 GMT)
I was thinking to put in a dashboard camera in my truck, so then if I get into an accident and they try to say It was my fault I can show them the video to prove it's not my fault. I was wondering if any insurance companies will discount it if you have a camera in your vehicle. I might put three camera's in my truck for front left and right. I have state farm insurance and I know I talked to one agent and he said no but then he started to talk about Home security. If anyone has an answer please reply I would like to know and also if the insurance company would give a discount would they pay to get them installed? Thanks

Open Question: Who knows the 800 number for the company that gives the "accident insurance" from Bank of America?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 18:09:42 GMT)
They send me a package that says that I can get insurance and they want to charge me like $25 for this. I need to cancel this immediately but I lost the paperwork and I need to call ASAP. If anyone has this number so I can call that would be great.

Open Question: Do you think I would be eligible for disability?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 17:11:46 GMT)
Alright, I really didn't want to have to resort to this, but my husband works construction and has been off 2-3 days weekly for the last couple of months due to weather, and I really think if I were eligible it would supplement his income greatly. Since I am without any type of insurance, I haven't been to the doctor about these things recently. I really didn't want to accrue a lot of medical debts because we will be trying to purchase a house within the next 2 years. Anyway, I will list what my symptoms are and I would like you guys to let me know if you think I would qualify for disability. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: I've never been officially diagnosed with CTS, but I've only been to the doctor for it once a few years ago (so that could be why). The time I went I was given a cortisone shot in the wrist. In my right wrist, I often feel pain. I wake up at night with most of my right hand completely numb and the finger next to my pinkie is so numb it's painful. Sometimes it wakes me up 3 or 4 times a night and it usually takes me 10 minutes or more to get my hand to lose enough numbness that I can go back to sleep. When it's really bad, I have a hard time lifting things the next day. Chronic Back Pain: I've had this since I was in high school. If I'm on my feet for more than a couple of hours my back gets really painful. If I bend at the waist and let my upper body hang, I can feel and hear my spine stretching a popping. When I was in high school, my mom would take me to a chiropractor and that seemed to help, but after I turned 18 and was without insurance I stopped going. On my first visit to the chiropractor, he took some x-rays of my spine. I'm no medical expert, but I'm pretty sure your spine should not look like a question mark from the side. Also, I don't know if this is at all related to my spine, but my legs and feet go numb a lot when I'm sitting (when I say a lot, I mean once a day or more). Post Traumatic Stress Disorder: In August of 2006 I had a car accident at an intersection. It totaled my car and made me terrified of certain driving situations. I was unable to drive for a very long time, and even now that I've started driving again, I refrain from going into the cities where there are lot of intersections and stoplights. My husband drives when we go to those places, and if we have to make a left turn, I just look down into my lap, with my hand above my brow to avoid seeing the traffic around me. It's not just intersections though. My husband went to pass someone in a legal passing zone and I ended up having a panic attack. I hyperventilated and began crying. I know it seems extreme, but I can't control it. It just happened. Again, I have not been to the doctor for this. Sometimes I have bouts of depression, but it's not a constant thing. I have been treated for it in the past. I would really like to be treated for these things, but without insurance I feel like I will be stacking up a lot of debt that I don't have to if I just suffer from them. If I did qualify for disability, I would be able to get treatment for these things, which I would appreciate immensely. I would also like to know if my choosing to not go to the doctor every time I have a problem with these things will affect my eligibility. I mean, even when I had insurance while I was pregnant, I still didn't run to the doctor for every little pain. Please, if anyone with experience in this area can tell me what you think, I would be very grateful. For those of you that won't offer any help and just want to complain about people that draw disability, please just skip leaving a comment. All offensive answers will be reported. Thank you in advance for your answers! EDIT: Honestly, I don't need a lot of money from this. Just a little coming in to help when my husband is out of work like he has been. Also, having the insurance they provide would allow me to get treatment when I need it, rather than suffering through the pain when it's really bad. What I'm asking is: Do you think the symptoms I've described would be enough to make me eligible?

Open Question: Ethical or Unethical?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 16:34:57 GMT)
You borrow a friend's car.On the way back you fall asleep at the wheel and total it. Since the car is 5 years old your friend has no collision insurance. You're sorry about the accident but don't feel any obligation to paying your friend what the car was worth.Should you have any moral responsibility to do so? Why/Why not?

Open Question: How do you go about getting your insurance settlement?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 13:45:11 GMT)
When I was 2-years-old my mom got into a car accident in which I was injured. The person at fault paid $8,000 for my injuries. My mom went to the courthouse in Connecticut, and she invested the money on CDs. She has said that when I'm 18 I can officially start using the money. Can someone please tell me the procedure to getting this money? Do I have to drive from North Carolina to the courthouse in Connecticut?

Open Question: Repair costs for automobile accident.?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 13:41:37 GMT)
I was rear ended (their insurance responsible) and my car is older but in perfect condition. Body damage to the bumper and rear quarter panel. But, new tires, new timing belt just put on. The insurance company says its not worth fixing, and offered a $ amount of $3,400.00. The timing belt and tires cost $1,400.00. The engine and transmission are in perfect working order and the car has never needed any repairs other than routine maintenance. What options do I have to keep my car?

Open Question: What are the driver’s responsibilities after an accident without a police report and if he gets sued?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 13:30:14 GMT)
My friend was driving his sister’s car and had an accident. There was never a police report. If they both get sued by the other person and if she authorizes him the driver and files a claim in her insurance company, what my friend should do to make sure he is not in trouble and insurance company is going to handle the case. Or is there anything my friend should do from his end?

Open Question: I was involved in a minor accident, but the other person is not picking up my phone calls?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 11:28:08 GMT)
I was involved in an accident about two weeks ago. It was minor, but my bumper fell off and a light needs to be replaced. The other person told me that she did not want to go through insurance, so I did not collect any of her insurance information, although I checked she had it. I collected her drivers license and license plate number, but that's it. I also took a picture of just the scratches on both cars and my busted bumper/light. I got an estimate and the repair came out to a bit over $1,000. Is there anything that I can do? She is not picking up my phone calls. Is it too late to file a police report?

Open Question: Misuse of an Insurance Claim?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 10:59:43 GMT)
Hello, my friend was in a car accident a while back that was not his fault. The 2nd party's insurance agency sent him a check for $5,900 to repair the vehicle. The amount reflects the estimate made by a body shop and there is nothing left over. The vehicle is NOT totaled. My question is: If he say.. went to the casino and spent all the money, would he go to jail for misuse of the claim money? Also say that he is currently making car payments on the vehicle. I know that if he returned the vehicle in this shape ( repo etc. ) that he would have to pay the damages, but my question is just concerning this. Is he liable for misuse of his check? Will he be legally reprimanded for using the check for other then what it was intended for? Oh, one more thing: The vehicle is currently IN the body shop agreed to be used by the 2nd party's insurance agency. Thanks for the answer, now I can prey on his fears of going to jail without guilt. Maybe me making the situation worse will in turn make it better for his judgment in the future.

(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 07:25:42 GMT)

And i wasn't stupidly driving, my boyfriend had to go to work, he paid the rent and i was only working 6 hours a week, cant afford much if you have to pay gas and electric to make sure my 1 year old has a roof over her head

Open Question: Driving record - "lic" abbreviation?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 07:03:12 GMT)
I'm looking at my driving record on my account page on my insurance company's website and it looks like this: LIC -- 03/28/2009 -- R points FAILURE TO YIELD -- 06/09/2008 -- R points ACCIDENT -- 03/20/2008 -- R points LIC -- 03/28/2009 -- * points FAILURE TO YIELD -- 06/09/2008 -- * points ACCIDENT -- 03/20/2008 -- * points Total Points: 03 (sorry for the sloppy formatting) I know what the failure to yield and the accident are, but what does "LIC" mean? At first I though "license" but if so, that doesn't really explain what they're talking about. Also, why is everything listed twice, once with an "R" and once with an asterisk? What does that mean? Thanks, Matt

Open Question: could an insurance company hold it against me if I have two claims out.?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 04:03:03 GMT)
I was involved in a car accicent where I was rear ended about 7 months ago. I hired a very experienced attorney to handle my case, because the accident was so large. That case looks like it may have to go to court. Anyways a couple of month later I fell and slipped in a nail salon ( I had an injury from that was as well). I filed a claim with the owners insurance company. I was going to handle and negotiate the case myself but I when I talk to my Lawyer he said that, if he proceeds with the slip and fall case without the car accident case setteling first, the insurance companies will hold it against me. Since whenever you file a claim with any insurance company, your name gets put in a system and call insurance companies can see it. I have let my lawyer take the slip and fall case, but I need money now!! I'm thinkng of terminating the agreement. I know it is going to take forever for the first case to come to a close. Could anyone give me some insight. I sould I hadle the case myself or just let my lawyer hadle it....or do you think another lawyer would be willing to take it, knowing I'm involved in another case.

Open Question: REDO: I was in a car accident and now the driver is saying I wasn't in his car and I want money for it - HELP?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 03:33:54 GMT)
I was involved in a car accident last summer (summer 09) while someone else was driving and the accident was his fault. I am not on the accident report and I have no proof of being there except for my word. I had already had pesky back aches, because I am heavy set cheerleader and I am very prone to very mild concussions even just by a playful hit on the head. After the accident I decided to go to the doctors to see if I could get some help for my previous back problems and headaches, blaming it on the accident because my family and I didn't have the money for the normal help. This happened almost 10 months ago, and my parents have been paying out of pocket for the doctor bills. So since we need the money we went to the family of the driver to seek money for everything and now the driver is saying I wasn't in the car. My issue is, I am not on the accident report, there are no pictures, and no witnesses saying I was there, the police officer from the seen and the other driver didn't recognize my presence, all I have is my word. Even the two insurance companies involved don't know I was there. But I can explain the accident in detail and my mom knows about it. How do I got about filing for the money for compensation for the medical bills and my pain and suffering in this situation? HELP PLEASE! Please don't judge me. Please don't judge me, just give me a good way to prove I was a passenger in his car at the time of the accident. I do have job.

Open Question: is the co-signer a co-owner for a used automobile?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 03:02:14 GMT)
My grandpa decided to be a co-signer on my used automobile loan, but I guess this means that he is going to be the co-owner also. Is there a way to get it so I am the owner and he is only the co-signer? I guess he wants to make sure that he is not at fault if I get into an accident or to make sure he is not on the insurance policy. this is very vague and sorry for that.

Open Question: car insurance settlement dose not cover all my bills what can i do? please help?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 02:34:24 GMT)
hello I had a car accident in the state of Colorado on October of 09 in which I am not guilty at all the girl that hit me was underage at the time of the accident but my bills are aprox. 90K I have an attorney working on my case and we just had an appt. last week which he explained to me that all I have is 25K from the lady that hit me from her insurance and additional 25K from my insurance from UIM my attorney says that is all that he can do. only get the 50K but that doesn't cover not even half of my bills since he gets the third of the 50 K that leaves me with only 32K he wants me to sing the release form to the insurance for them to pay the 25K and I am basically sinning that the case is settle and the lady that hit me is free of all charges now and in the future but I don't want to do that I want to see what is the possibility to be able to receive the 25K from there insurance and still be able to sue the lady on my own with out releasing her of anything all bills I have after some are cover by the 32K. is there more money I can get from the insurance since there limit is only 25K but my accident worths more than that? or is there something I can do to sue the lady with out relising her of any charge?" only serious answers please

Open Question: Got into a fender bender before the first car payment & insurance premium are due, what to do?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 02:10:16 GMT)
Ok, so I bought a used vehicle (2005 Mazda 3) in excellent condition for my wife. A couple of days later, she hit the back of a small SUV. There was no damage done to the other vehicle, but now the hood on our Mazda is messed up. There are several reasons why I didn't call the insurance company right away: the first reason is that even though I got insured the day I drove off the lot, we hadn't even had the car for a week before she got into the accident (I havn't even mailed the first insurance premium payment, not even the first car payment), and second I was told by an auto body shop that the repairs would be less than $500 which is what my deductible is anyways, so I had no reason to call Progressive. Now that they gave me a definite estimate of over $1000 for the repairs, I'm not sure if I should call Progressive after so many days of having the fender bender ... and the first premium and car payment are still not due. Should I call my insurance company to get help with the repairs (I've been with them for over two years with no previous accidents)?

Open Question: Will someone explain this public insurance health care bill to me?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 01:45:48 GMT)
Ok, so this Health Insurance option thing...i've read articles about it, and I just don't understand it. I've been working a lot lately, so would someone please explain to me exactly what it is? One thing I've come across that concerns me is that we would be fined 5000 a year to NOT have insurance. Does this apply to everyone in the country without some form of insurance or medicare already? What about the homeless? Will they be fined? What about independent contractors? The Gypsies? College Students? I've spent years as a college student, with little to no work, traveling on my breaks from city to city, camping, selling jewelry for gas money. Thousands live this lifestyle all the time and never get an actual job. Will these people be fined 5000 dollars a year? Will the bum on the corner begging for change be expected to pay for health insurance that could cost thousands of dollars or a hefty fine when he's struggling just to keep warm? When I heard the idea that people with preexisting health conditions could get insurance, I thought it sounded like a great idea. But I didn't think about the problem...someone never pays for the insurance, gets in a car accident and calls up saying "oh yeah i want insurance now", Insurance, the very word, means to be insured that if you pay a company to remain a business, they will always be there when you do fall ill. What is stopping people from getting insurance for 2 days, get insurance rates, and then cancel the next week? This means those who actually abide by the policies will inadvertently pay for the people who will screw the system over. Pre-existing conditions....it does really suck to be born with a terrible illness like epilepsy for instance...but to allow just anyone with preexisting conditions? I have been against the "Free Health Care" idea for a while. Though it sounds nice, it's just one of those ideas that won't work, will put us in debt , won't be fair to anyone, ruin the health care system in general, and the government will likely destroy everything about it. However, as irresponsible as it is, I would rather pay extra taxes and have the public option. I'd rather pay extra for others to be covered, rather than getting fined 5000 dollars because I refused to live the way the government expects me to. I'd rather pay more taxes than see the government pass an unconstitutional bill and MONOPOLIZE millions of business.(and this is coming from a Tea Party Patriot...) So could someone explain this to me? Homeless people go to free clinics or have medicaid? Not all of them, but even if that was the case, they'd still be forced to pay? Yes you get fined if you don't have an address! Not to mention, if you don't pay this fine you could go to jail. Links: http://www.factcheck.org/2009/11/imprisoned-for-not-having-health-care/ This one DOES answer my first and initial question, but what in the hell is the POINT of making the rich pay for insurance, when the POOR are the ones that really need it? So I can't be sure if this is actually accurate. I simply don't have time to read the 1000 page billl. http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_030810/content/01125111.guest.html What they are doing is making insurance NOT insurance, forcing people who are more likely to pay for healthcare in the first place to get insurance, even if they don't like it, and leaving the poor out anyway. Some bleeding hearts. Sounds like a load of crap to me Wait, did you seriously just ask me why would anyone buy health insurance and cancel it? LOL Tell me your joking. Well let's see. I get sick, but never bought insurance. I want to go to the doctor, but SHIT, I don't have insurance? I make a phone call, have them deduct so much out of my bank account to go to the doctor, pay the deductible, save hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars. I go home cancel my plan, and don't get billed every month for the rest of the year. I just got a discount because the government forced the insurance companies to let me get away with it! What a bunch of morons! Now, all those poor suckers who decided they needed health insurance all the time, pay larger amounts to cover what they might need for health care in the future, and took care of mine!

Open Question: Why is being an adult so hard? I don't think I can handle this?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 00:35:04 GMT)
I'm thinking of giving up college, because I failed my third attempt at at the most difficult course in the college. My mom is forcing me to apply for medicaid, even though I won't qualify. I don't have a job, I don't have a life. I don't want to deal with adulthood. I changed majors twice. I wanna switch schools because of my failed 3rd attempt, but financial aid won't cover my cost. I want to kill myself so I don't have to deal with this. It's hard to find a job with my history, and it's hard to find a NOT a minimum wage job without a college degree. I don't want to flip burgers the rest of my life. I'm too scared to drive, I'm too scared to get into an accident and kill someone. I'm afraid of the future. I can't handle this anymore. I don't have insurance, so I avoid hospitals and doctor's appointments, because I don't want to cost my parents more money. I'll say it again. Every major in that school requires the composition class, which is very difficult to pass. So I failed my 3rd attempt, which means I can't get a degree, and I may be forced to work at McDonald's for the rest of my life. What should I do? I feel so hopeless. I forgot to mention that the 3rd attempt at this course is the FINAL attempt. Since it's required for a degree, I can't get the degree because I failed this course.

Open Question: Should I make an injury claim from this accident?
(Tue, 16 Mar 2010 20:56:29 GMT)
I was in a car crash this morning at half8 on a motorway. Traffic was building up so we were only travelling at 20mph when we bumped into the back of another car. I was in the front passenger seat and there were two other passengers in the back. My friend got slight whiplash but she's fine now, and the other passenger and driver were unhurt. I however have been to hospital - I have whiplash, severe muscle tissue damage on my shoulder, an injured back and possible concussion. I'm very nauseous and dizzy, and have found out that just for my shoulder and neck alone I could get around £15000 and that's not the highest price I've found. Thing is I go to college with the driver and it could cause me to get a lot of grief off people. If I wait a few weeks to claim until he has left the college how much could my claim go down by and what is everyone's opinion on what I should do? I barely know the guy to be honest I only speak to him when I'm getting a lift in the morning and even then he barely holds a conversation with me. Also how much will his insurance go up by?

Open Question: Falsely Claiming Insurance?
(Tue, 16 Mar 2010 20:24:26 GMT)
can someone in a car accident with no police report who already filed an insurance claim as a hit and run, come back at you for the deductible money, and threaten to call the cops if you don't pay up? they've already filed it as a hit and run (it wasn't actually a hit and run, it was a parking lot accident and they wanted to claim it as a hit and run because of the lack of insurance on one end) , and paid the deductible but want the money for the deductible they paid, this already is insurance fraud and a federal offense, what happens if they do go to the cops because they are already admitting the fraud then? what can be done and are we liable to pay the money then? Can they actually come after us for the money if it is claimed as a hit and run, and has our information (phone #, name) has called various times about the situation so she couldn't just tell a cop it was this car and that person if its in the phone records. Thank you this could help alot

Open Question: Car Accident Medical Bills?
(Tue, 16 Mar 2010 19:18:28 GMT)
I was recently in a car accident and am incurring some medical bills. I have been paying for them all myself using my health insurance. The at fault's parties insurer (not me) has contacted me and informed me they were going to cover my medical expenses. I expected this, but the one thing I am still unclear on is will they be paying me for my out of pocket costs (because I have insurance), or the actual costs of the services (as if I had no insurance).

Resolved Question: why does my back hurt?
(Tue, 16 Mar 2010 16:28:51 GMT)
I am seventeen and i have had back problems for a little over a year. I was in a car accident last august right before soccer season. I had problems with it for a while but the insurance agency for the driver who's fault the accident was stopped paying for physical therapy. It wasn't really helping anyways so i was sent to a chiropracter. He said that my pelvis was out of alignment and jamming up into my back. it hurts on the lower left and right sides but mainly the left. Everytime i go he uses this thing and pops it back in but it almost immediatly comes back out. I have cows and i do all the field events in track and i cant get it to go away. Any help? thanks. O my gosh thank you soooooo much! it does feel a lot better just to walk around! still hurts on the left side to arch backwards and i do high jump...is that ok? why does everything on the right side go farther or higher? just wondering? Oh, also i cant do the last one with the knee to the shoulders..... my hip keeps cramping up. happens whenever i lift my leg for too long. is there something else i could do?

Open Question: Virginia Law: What happens and what should I do if the person that hit me is not insured?
(Tue, 16 Mar 2010 15:17:09 GMT)
I got in an accident the other day and the people that hit me were at fault. I have insurance and they claimed to have insurance. I contacted their insurance company and they can't find a policy for them. So I'm waiting for the police to call me back and try to get more info on the car to see if it's really registered under these people's names. IF they are the correct registered names of the vehicle, what do I have to do next??? Will I have to go get a lawyer? I know I will have to go to my insurance company to get my car fixed.... but how would I or my insurance company go after these people? Need some help to guide me in the right direction.

Open Question: My ex-wife took her mom's car and had a wreck. She has no license and was at fault. What will mom's insurance.?
(Tue, 16 Mar 2010 15:08:10 GMT)
Her license was suspended for DUI in Nov. 08 and she was high on pills this time. They tried to give her another DUI but she blow 0.00 because she was on pills. She got 2 tickets, reckless driving and driving without a license. She did not go to jail because she went to the hospital. Her license address is the same as her moms and she lives there, but was not a declared driver on moms insurance. What will happen with moms insurance? Will they cover the accident and the other cars she hit? One other detail, she is on probation for another problem, will this count as probation violation?

Open Question: Son in auto accident with no insurance, please help, we need guidance?
(Tue, 16 Mar 2010 15:03:56 GMT)
My 19 year old son had no insurance on his vehicle when he was in a car accident. The vehicle was in my husbands name. My son was found at fault for his brakes giving out. A person was injured in the other car. My son already went to court for the no insurance violation (Michigan). We received a letter for my husband and son from an attorneys office for the injured party. They want us to state whether we had insurance at the time and if so, with who. An accident report was already done, stating there was no insurance. My husband had insurance on our vehicles that we drive, but we did not have the vehicle my son drove insured. We left that to our son. Do we give the attorney our insurance information from our personal vehicles, that were not involved in the accident? Also will we be sued? We have no money or assets that amount to anything. I work minimum wage and my husband is unemployed..we struggle. My son is in school and has no assets.

Open Question: Can anyone translate this script? (English to Spanish)?
(Tue, 16 Mar 2010 07:17:50 GMT)
I work as a telemarketer and sometimes I call people in my area that speak Spanish. Can anyone translate this script I am supposed to read? I know it's long, so if you only want to do part any help you can give is appreciated. I do speak some Spanish, but I want to ask someone who has a better grip on the language to translate it for me so that I know it makes sense. Okay, here's the script: Hi, may I speak with (-----)? Hi, this is (-----) and I'm calling because we here at Farm Bureau Insurance are saving families like yours an average of $528 per year on their auto and home insurance premiums, and I would like to ask you three quick questions to see if we can save you money as well. Who do you currently have your auto insurance with? Good, we usually compare favorably with them. How long have you been insured with them? That's good because we give a discount based on how many years you have been with your current company! Have any drivers in your house had any tickets or accidents in the last four years? Well, based on what you have told me, it looks like we may be able to give you a better value for your insurance dollars! I just need to get some more information so we can work up a quote for you. Do you know when your insurance renews? Do you pay annually, semi-annually, or monthly? Do you know what your liability coverages are? Do you carry full coverage on all your vehicles? Do you know what your deductibles are? What is the year, make and model of the vehicle you drive most often/ What is your date of birth? What is your driver's license number? What is your name as shown on your license? Are there any other drivers in the household? What is their name as shown on their license? What is the year, make and model of the car (----) drives most often? How many miles does (-----) drive one way to work or school? What is (-----) date of birth? What is (-----) driver's license number? Thanks!

Open Question: I was in a car accident, but I wasn't driving. Now the driver is saying I wasn't in the car when I want money.?
(Tue, 16 Mar 2010 07:03:23 GMT)
I was involved in a car accident last summer (summer 09) while someone else was driving and the accident was his fault. I am not on the accident report and I have no proof of being there except for my word. I had already had pesky back aches, because I am heavy set cheerleader and I am very prone to very mild concussions even just by a playful hit on the head. After the accident I decided to go to the doctors to see if I could get some help for my previous back problems and headaches, blaming it on the accident because my family and I didn't have the money for the normal treatment. This happened almost 10 months ago, and my parents have been paying out of pocket for the doctor bills. So since we need the money we went to the family of the driver to seek money for everything and now the driver is saying I wasn't in the car (I think he knows I am just looking for money). My issue is, I am not on the accident report, there are no pictures, and no witnesses saying I was there, the police officer from the seen and the other driver didn't recognize my presence, all I have is my word. Even the two insurance companies involved don't know I was there. How do I got about filing for the money for compensation for the medical bills and my pain and suffering. HELP PLEASE! edit - but I know all the details of the accident can't I tell and explain it? & my mom knows, too.

Open Question: She drove drunk, crashed her car, and lied about it?
(Tue, 16 Mar 2010 06:54:49 GMT)
My best friend just started dating a girl. He keeps having to give her rides to and from work, home, etc... And she keeps talking about a settlement. I finally asked my friend what was going on. All he would tell me was that her car was totaled in an accident and she's waiting on a settlement from the insurance company so she could get a new car. I was talking to a mutual friend and found out exactly what happened. She works at a night club and left work drunk one night. She ended up rolling the car and completely destroying it. She called a friend to come pick her up and then called the police to report the car stolen. When the car was found wrecked, the police believed that teenagers took the car for a joy ride. The police report was submitted to the insurance company. They are doing their own investigation but that is mostly to determine the value of the car at the time of the accident. This happened before my friend started dating her. I know that she hasn't done anything like this since the accident and I know that she told my friend the whole story. I'm not really sure what to do though. The whole situation makes me angry. She shouldn't have driven drunk, she shouldn't have filed a false police report, and she really shouldn't be getting a new car by lying. Any advice?
