Open Question: Repair costs for automobile accident.?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 13:41:37 GMT)
I was rear ended (their insurance responsible) and my car is older but in perfect condition. Body damage to the bumper and rear quarter panel. But, new tires, new timing belt just put on. The insurance company says its not worth fixing, and offered a $ amount of $3,400.00. The timing belt and tires cost $1,400.00. The engine and transmission are in perfect working order and the car has never needed any repairs other than routine maintenance. What options do I have to keep my car?

Open Question: is the co-signer a co-owner for a used automobile?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 03:02:14 GMT)
My grandpa decided to be a co-signer on my used automobile loan, but I guess this means that he is going to be the co-owner also. Is there a way to get it so I am the owner and he is only the co-signer? I guess he wants to make sure that he is not at fault if I get into an accident or to make sure he is not on the insurance policy. this is very vague and sorry for that.

Open Question: What type of automobile insurance is required to transport developmentally disabled clients in my own vehicle?
(Mon, 15 Mar 2010 23:25:21 GMT)
I was recently hired to work with a developmentally disabled child for a few hours after school. I may work with another client, too. This might involve transporting this person on various outings in the community in my vehicle. All people who work in this field for various companies in the state of Michigan (home care for the disabled, or with senior citizens) are asked to dirve their clients in their own vehicle. I am told by my reputable auto insurance company that my full coverage insurance DOES NOT cover this whatsoever. I would be required to have what is referred to as commercial insurance, since I am " transporting for hire". How can thousands of employees not know this? Are these home care agencies/companies knowingly taking advantage of their employees by putting them at risk for not bing adequately covered? Everyone is told when hired just show your certificate of automobile insurance, drivers license, registration, etc. Can anyon shed some light on this? I am told that this would make me like a taxi, ant the insurance would be $5,000/ year.

Open Question: Like health insurance, isn't automobile insurance in the US a joke?
(Mon, 15 Mar 2010 18:21:46 GMT)
In many states in the US, you can get automobile insurance with coverage of 15K/30K/5K and no state requires more than 50K/100K/25K. If you injure someone and carry the minimum coverage required, it is likely that you will end up filing bankruptcy. In comparison, the EU currently requires a minimum of 500K/2.5M/500K in Euros and the minimum coverage will double in 2012. Of course since everyone in Europe is covered by universal health insurance, the auto insurance premiums are usually lower since insurance companies seldom pay for high medical bills.

Open Question: If I use a Discover card cashback for a car rental, does I receive the collision insurance?
(Fri, 12 Mar 2010 01:40:50 GMT)
Discover card says "Collision Damage Waiver Coverage is provided to you, as an Insured, automatically when the entire rental fee for the Rented Automobile is charged or debited to your Account". See http://www.discovercard.com/customer-service/travel/assets/More_Motiva_Miles_OpenRoad_Combined-Scheduled_Air_CDWDOC.pdf to read this in context. The also allow me to use $20 of cashback bonus to purchase $40 certificates for use on car rentals, meaning that I save $20. If I use my Discover card cashback bonus to get a certificate for a car rental company, and then rent a car, using my the certificate and my Discover Card (the total cost is more than the certificate), would I be covered by this insurance? To be covered by the insurance, do I have to use the Discover Card to pay for the entire cost of the car rental? Or do I just need to use the Discover Card for whatever is left of the cost after they subtract the value of the certificate? (It is a $40 certificate that I would be purchasing with $20 of cashback bonus.) If using the certificate means not getting the CDW coverage, then it is not a very good deal. Getting the CDW from the rental car company costs more than $20, so I would not save anything by using the certificate.

Resolved Question: does insurance company get off the hook in this dui accident case?
(Tue, 09 Mar 2010 05:03:27 GMT)
i was in an automobile accident with a drunk driver. the district attorney is making him pay my out of pocket expenses out of his pocket before he can get his license back. if he pays these bills out of his pocket, does his insurance company get off the hook? he had insurance at the time of the accident and i am curious...if i sue for pain and suffering, will the claim amount include all the medical bills even if they have been paid already? thank you for your response. i guess my question is more about insurance. it seems weird that he paid money to be insured but now he is the one who has to pay. Not sticking up for his actions by any means but I think the insurance company gets off easy in this case. Not trying to get money...just trying to understand the insurance world. cheers

Resolved Question: Example of insurance Adverse selection?
(Sun, 07 Mar 2010 23:35:11 GMT)
Statistics show that the occupants of small vehicles involved in collisions with larger vehicles sustain more injuries than the occupants in the larger vehicles. An Insurance Company has noticed a trend in its automobile applications over the past year: applicants with large vehicles and heavy pick up trucks are requesting higher limits of liability coverage to pay for injuries that they may cause to others. Explain whether this is an example of adverse selection.

Voting Question: Is there mandatory liability insurance for rental cars in ohio?
(Sun, 07 Mar 2010 21:47:55 GMT)
I live in NY and rented a car from Avis in OH, without taking out liability insurance (ALI). I bumped someone's car and I want to know if by law I'm covered up to a certain amount even without having any personal automobile or credit card insurance. My questions was regarding the other car. I understand that the rental company has insurance for themselves; my question is if that covers me also, or will I have to pay out of pocket to cover their expenses to fix the other car.

Resolved Question: I don't understand Chi-squaring?
(Sat, 06 Mar 2010 19:23:10 GMT)
The student population at the state college consists of 55% females and 45% males a. The college theater department recently staged a production of a modern musical. A researcher recorded the gender of each student entering the theater and found a total of 385 females and 215 males. Is the gender distribution for the theater goers significantly different from the distribution for the general college? Test at the .05 level of significance. Report the chi-square value; do you reject the null hypothesis? b. The same researcher also recorded the gender of each student watching a men’s basketball game in the college gym and found a total of 83 females and 97 males. Is the gender distribution for basketball fans significantly different from the distribution for the general college? Test at the .05 level of significance. Report the chi-square value; do you reject the null hypothesis? Automobile insurance is much more expensive for teenage drivers than for older drivers. To justify this cost difference, insurance companies claim that the younger drivers are much more likely to be involved in costly accidents. To test this claim, a researcher obtains information about registered drivers from the department of motor vehicles and selects a sample of n=300 accident reports from the police department. The motor vehicle department reports the percentage of registered drivers in each age category as follows: 16% are under the age 20; 28% are 20 to 29 years old; and 56% are 30 or older. The number of accident reports for each age group is as follows: Under Age Age 30 Age 20 20-29 or older 68 92 140 68 92 140 a. Calculate and report the chi-square test statistic. b. Do you reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis? Gender differences in dream content are well documented. Suppose a researcher studies aggression content in the dreams of men and women. Each participant reports his or her most recent dream. Then each dream is judged by a panel of experts to have low, medium, or high aggression content. The observed frequentcies are shown in the following matrix: Aggression Content Low Medium High Female 18 4 2 Gender Male 4 17 15 Is there a relationship between gender and the aggression content of dreams? Test with a=.01. a. Calculate and report the chi-square test statistic. b. Do you reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis? Research indicates that people who volunteer to participate in research studies tend to have higher intelligence than nonvolunteers. To test this phenomenon, a researcher obtains a sample of 200 high school students. The students are given a description of a psychological research study and asked whether they would volunteer to participate. The researcher also obtains an IQ score for each student and classifies the students into high, medium, and low IQ groups. Do the following data indicate a significant relationship between IQ and volunteering? Test at the .05 level of significance. IQ High Medium Low Volunteers 43 73 34 150 Non Volunteers 7 27 16 50 50 100 50 a. Calculate and report the chi-square test statistic. b. Do you reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis? Although the phenomenon is not well understood, it appears that people born during the winter months are slightly more likely to develop schizophrenia than people born at other times. The following hypothetical data represent a sample of 50 individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia and a sample of 50 individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia and a sample of 100 people with no psychotic diagnosis. Each individual is also classified according to season in which he or she was born. Do the data indicate a significant relationship between schizophrenia and the season of birth? Test at the .05 level of significance.

Resolved Question: Automobile accident. Is an attorney worth it?
(Sat, 27 Feb 2010 06:28:45 GMT)
So this woman ran a red light and hit my car pretty bad. Theres no way her insurance company can get out of paying it because she was at fault, I have a witness, AND a police officer was on the scene when it happened. Now I know I will be getting the money to either have my car fixed or payed off no doubt and obviously my medical bills will be taken care of. But my question is should I hire an attorney? I'm very young, only eighteen, and my father is a complete moron when it comes to things like this. He went straight to an attorney we know and I'm afraid we will just get screwed out of money. I'm not trying to mooch money off this woman for hitting me. All I want is my med bills, car bills, and just a little extra incase my injuries catch up with me later on. Why would it be worth it to hire an attorney and why would it just screw me out of money. (He wants to take a third of the money I get.) LOL I know you did not just call me a moron when you cant spell mother. It's not "mouther" you incompetent, ignorant, blithering idiot. Do not comment on how I treat people when you are unaware of the details in my situation. This question is based on whether I need an attorney or not. I do not need opinions on my family life. I appreciate your time if you are trying to help me out.

Resolved Question: Can I sue this debt collector for FDCPA violation?
(Sat, 27 Feb 2010 01:40:59 GMT)
I do believe I can sue, but wanted verification. I had a debt collector call while I was at my mothers house today saying, "This is Miss Rose, I need to speak with ____ this is a number she gave me to reach her at." And my mom brought me the phone. "Miss Rose" immediately told me that I had a medical debt for November and December '08 and that the hospital was recommending garnishing my wages so she was calling to get a payment before that took place. I worked in collections for 3 months. September-November 09 I worked in collections and knew that we were drilled on fdcpa, knew that we HAD to verify the person by birthday or last four of social and couldnt make threats like garnishing wages both for FDCPA violations. Would like some legal advice bc this debt I do intend on paying, but is mine due to a problem with automobile insurance and really, I'm very very frustrated!

Resolved Question: Is this right many families denied basic health care because they were undocumented free health care where?
(Mon, 22 Feb 2010 22:22:28 GMT)
THE REASON that more than 200 men, women and children attended an immigration reform rally Saturday morning at Ygnacio Valley High School was to hear invited advocates speak for their cause. But the voices that resonated loudest belonged to three people in the audience. Their stories encapsulated the conflicting sentiments expressed about a bill before Congress that would grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens — HR 4321: The Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity Act of 2009. A Hispanic woman, speaking through a translator, said Contra Costa County clinics had denied many families basic health care because they were undocumented. She told of diabetics with elevated glucose levels who were desperate to find treatment. A health care administrator from Pittsburg said she had been forced to turn away applicants for Medi-Cal and Healthy Families programs because of their undocumented status. She had been moved by the sight of grown men, racked with worry, shedding tears. Even opponents of illegal immigration would find it hard to shut their hearts to such stories. More than 5,000 undocumented county residents are without access to clinics. Then a third speaker, a man in his twenties, stepped to the microphone and unwittingly provided fuel for the opposition. Because of his undocumented status he was unable to get a driver's license, and every time he sat behind the wheel of his car, he worried about being pulled over and having his vehicle impounded. So, to recap: He entered the country illegally. He operates an automobile without a license. Which means has no insurance coverage. If he is responsible for an accident, good luck in recovering damages. So please reward him with legal status. Is it any wonder this topic pulls people in opposite directions? Amnesty proposals have been with us for decades. President Jimmy Carter floated a plan in 1977 that fizzled. Ronald Reagan pushed through the Immigration Reform and Control Act in 1987, after which nearly 3 million undocumented workers became legal. George W. Bush lobbied for a measure in 2006 that withered in Congress. Today, we have HR 4321, co-sponsored by Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., and Rep. Solomon Ortiz, D-Tex., a 700-page bill that would beef up border security, overhaul the federal detention system for jailed immigrants and prevent local police from acting as immigration agents, among other things. But the crux of the bill is clearing a path to legalization for an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants. That was the focus of the rally. "Immigrants who do not have legal status must be given the opportunity to come out of the shadows, to work without fear, to become U.S. citizens," attorney Nicolas Vaca told the crowd. "It makes no sense to spend billions of dollars rounding up people, breaking up families and deporting people who have set down roots in this country." He spoke as much to Congress as the audience. Rep. John Garamendi, D- Walnut Grove, and Rep. George Miller, D-Martinez, had representatives in attendance who agreed to deliver the message. Event co-chairwoman Connie James added a postscript: "This is a country that lets people achieve their dreams. We want for our children the same right to dream." That's a nice thought. But it's not easy making most dreams come true. Our guess is this one won't be any different. http://www.contracostatimes.com/columns/ci_14449352

Resolved Question: Can anyone help me solve this algebraic inequality?

I'm having trouble writing out the problem so that I can begin solving it, so if you could write out the process that would be great. Here's the problem: "After a serious automobile accident, most insurance companies will replace the damaged car with a new one if repair costs exceed 80% of the NADA, or "blue-book" value of the car. A car recently sustained $9200 worth of damage but was not replaced. What was the blue-book value of the car?"

Resolved Question: Automobile Insurance question (other party at fault)?
(Fri, 19 Feb 2010 17:30:36 GMT)
Okay, my wife's car got stuck in the snow last week close to the subdivision. So I went out to get the car because she's not really good at driving in the snow, but I have experience with it. Two people had stopped to help me get the car, which was stuck in a driveway. A guy loses control on the main road and veers off striking one person helping me and striking my vehicle. My vehicle spun around about 90 degrees. Other than the physical damage to the vehicle would the person be responsible for any hidden damage? Because on the side it was hit my wife says it sounds funny ever since that happened. And I fear it could be something got knocked out of whack from getting spun so violently. How would I be able to prove that damage? BTW, the guy who got hit was just bruised, not badly hurt, thank God. The car almost rolled on top of me because I wasn't in the car at the time it got hit. Just a bump on my head. thankfully.

Voting Question: Can I find out if somebody has automobile insurance or not? I think the driver is just avoiding a claim ...?
(Thu, 18 Feb 2010 02:28:10 GMT)
What do I do if the driver who hit my parked car says he does not have insurance, but I think he really does? In Illinois - I thought you could not get your state registration sticker if your insurance was not update to date and valid. But this guy hit my parked car, then says he'll work out payments because he does not have insurance. Is there a way to find out if he does or does not have insurance, and may just be trying to avoid filing a claim?

Voting Question: Is being gay really wrong?
(Mon, 15 Feb 2010 05:39:28 GMT)
so gay people cant marry because why? Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog actually has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract..? like not being able to get married will actually stop us from being gay? Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed... because its okay for pople in vegas to get drunk and "accidently" get married, like britany spears 55 hour marriage? Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children. kids out there are having kids. think of what kinda child that is going to be raised by a 15 year old? of course Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children? Married gay people will encourage others to be gay, in a way that unmarried gay people do not.? Gay marriage would allow more partners and children to sign onto the family breadwinner's healthcare plan. Given that 44 million Americans do not have health insurance, it is safe to say that health insurance is not an American value. Children of married gay couples might suffer bullying and teasing more often than children of unmarried gay couples, because playground bullies are sensitive to the nuances of contract law. God created the institution of marriage, just after he created 2.9% APR automobile financing, student loans, HMOs, and divorce. Allowing same-sex marriage could increase gay public displays of affection, because marriage has historically been proven to stimulate couples' interest in sex. Gay marriage is wrong because children might be led to think that it is right and that would clearly be wrong... right? It is reasonable and fair to institute "civil unions" that provide all the rights and responsibilities of marriage, but we cannot apply the holy, mystical word "marriage" to this contract. Deriving from the Latin maritare, "marriage" evokes the dignity of the typical Roman man who engaged in licentious sex with both sexes until he reached middle age, at which time he maritared a teenage girl to bear his children. why should people worry about people that are gay. if we get married how are you to know? we would walk around in public holding hands, like we always would do. you dont follow uus home and see what happens in our bedrooms. you could just as easy ignore us if we were married or not. the whole point of this is to let people know. im 20 years old iv known im gay since before i was 10. i am in love with the most amazing girl in the entire world. she is my life and it saddens me to know that in bout 5 years i cant get married we have to have a civil union, which is the same thing. but its totally different. we cant have kids cause the social worker has to come look at our house and how we live to see if were fit parents and when she sees were gay its a big fat NO automaticly i believe in god. and praise him. i cant help who i am. im not attracted to guys. never have been. and i never will be. and if you deny me the right to marry do you think thats going to change my mind about bein gay? if people out there are actually sayin " hey lets deny gays the right to marry and maybe they will change there minds about obeying the bible." NO its not. and the faster everyone learns that gays are not going to give up the faster everyone can eccept something thats not in your little pictre perfect little world. does everyone just throw out the options that are something your not.. "use" to? i cant even explain how i feel but i did a ok job trying. my wish to god himself.. i want everyone to be understanding to everyones feelings and not everyone thinks the same or acts the same so why should we have to follow the same rules as everyone else? why should i date a guy because people tell me "its what all the girls have been doing for decades"? if im sexually attracted to a girl damn it imma date a girl! well i hope you read this and not post stupid shit i put my whole heart into this so just read and understand what im trying to say. thank you for taking time out to read this and understand. god bless you all! but if its a sin... when you go before heaven after you die dont you get the chance to like say your sorry? cause like everyone says. god loves you and will always forgive you.. right? im not sure what its called.

Resolved Question: How do you feel about innocent American children becoming roadkill for illegal aliens?
(Mon, 15 Feb 2010 00:26:40 GMT)
Trial begins for illegal alien accused of killing Colorado toddler and two others February 8, 10:53 PM Francis Hernandez Illegal alien Francis Hernandez is on trial this week in Arapahoe County District Court for an automobile crash that resulted in the deaths of three people, including a 3-year-old boy. Francis Hernandez, faces a total of 19 charges, including vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident involving death, and child abuse resulting in death. On September 10, 2008, the parents of 3-year-old Marten Kudlis buried their son at Fairmount Cemetery, a few days earlier, he was killed while waiting for his ice cream in an Aurora Baskin and Robbins. An SUV speeding through the intersection of Havana and Mississippi, with Guatemalan national Francis Hernandez at the wheel, slammed into a pickup truck, which was then pushed into the ice cream shop´s window. The toddler was sitting at a table in front of that window, and was sent flying as the truck came crashing through it. Police say that Hernandez was traveling at a speed of at least 70 mph. After the crash, police say Hernandez jumped from his Chevy Suburban and fled the scene. He was later apprehended without incident. Marten was taken to the hospital, but died a short time later due to massive internal injuries. The two women in the pickup truck struck by Hernandez were Patricia Guntharp, 49, and Debra Serecky, 51. They were both pronounced dead at the scene. KMGH of Denver covered the child´s funeral and reported that the first song heard during the service was Eric Clapton´s "Tears in Heaven." In a heart wrenching display of grief and anger, Marten´s mother Marat Kudlis shouted: “That bastard!,” referring to the illegal alien believed responsible for killing her son. Between the tears, Marten´s father cried out: “I really loved him.” The rabbi conducting the service told the heartbroken family and friends: “This burden feels like more than we can bear because it is so sudden. It´s a parent´s worst nightmare. It does not seem fair and it is not fair to lose someone so young.” A teddy bear was placed in the tiny open casket which held Marten´s body. Following the funeral, many of the mourners returned to the crash site, which became a makeshift memorial, filled with flowers, stuffed animals, and cards with expressions of sympathy and support for the Kudlis family. One of those mourners, Duane Stokes, told a KMGH reporter: “I helped pull Marten out of the building. I was right there with him. He squeezed my hand. I held his hand until he passed on. My fiance and I were just saying a prayer to Marten and just getting one last glimpse of everything around here. Just to say goodbye to him.” Marten´s death hit the community hard and his funeral was attended by many people who had never even met him, but were saddened and angered by his senseless death. Hernandez who has 12 aliases and two dates of birth, has been arrested an astonishing 19 times since 2003. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation has also, confirmed that Hernandez has been arrested by nine different police departments. Despite his lengthy arrest record and illegal status in this country, Hernandez has never been deported, nor have deportation proceedings ever been started against him. The police report shows that after Hernandez ran from the scene, he phoned his girlfriend, Brenda Aleman, asking her to come pick him up at a local Hooter´s restaurant. The report reads: “(He) stated after the accident he was scared and fled the scene, he was afraid he would be taken to jail because he had no insurance, no driver's license and that would prevent him from seeing his kids.” Hernandez and Aleman have two small children. It should be noted that the Congressional Research Service has classified both Aurora and nearby Denver, CO, as a “sanctuary cities.” The term refers to a policy taken by cities which refuse to inquire into an arrestee´s immigration status, or a refusal to inform federal authorities when a suspect in custody is believed to be or known to be an illegal alien. Shortly after little Marten‘s death, retired Congressman (R-CO) and former presidential candidate Tom Tancredo said that Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, as well as Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter "have blood on their hands." While both Hickenlooper and Ritter have long been criticized for their opposition to enforcement of our immigration laws, Gov. Ritter tried to deflect any attention from his office onto the federal government and called Tancredo´s comments “out of bounds.” In response, Tancredo issued the following statement: “While it might be politically expedient to blame Washington for what happened this week or to characterize my criticism of him as ´out of bounds,´ the fact remains that Gov. Ritter is in charge of enforcing and keeping Coloradans safe. It´s time for Gov. Ritter to take concrete steps to ensure that illegal aliens like Francis Hernandez, who had been apprehended by p It´s time for Gov. Ri

Resolved Question: Do you like this article? Please comment. Is it harsh or humorous?
(Wed, 10 Feb 2010 06:05:27 GMT)
I visited Mumbai recently and agree with the observations about driving. For the benefit of every Tom, Dick and Harry visiting India and daring to drive on Indian roads, I am offering a few hints for survival. They are applicable to every place in India except Bihar, where life outside a vehicle is only marginally safer. Indian road rules broadly operate within the domain of karma where you do your best and leave the results to your insurance company. The hints are as follows: Do we drive on the left or right of the road? The answer is "both". Basically you start on the left of the road, unless it is occupied. In that case, go to the right, unless that is also occupied. Then proceed by occupying the next available gap, as in chess. 1. Just trust your instincts, ascertain the direction, and proceed. Adherence to road rules leads to much misery and occasional fatality. 2. Most drivers don't drive, but just aim their vehicles in the intended direction. Don't you get discouraged or underestimate yourself. Except for a belief in reincarnation, the other drivers are not in any better position. 3. Don't stop at pedestrian crossings just because some fool wants to cross the road. You may do so only if you enjoy being bumped in the back. Pedestrians have been strictly instructed to cross only when traffic is moving slowly or has come to a dead stop because some minister is in town. Still some idiot may try to wade across, but then, let us not talk ill of the dead. 4. Blowing your horn is not a sign of protest as in some countries. We horn to express joy, resentment, frustration, romance and bare lust (two brisk blasts) or just to mobilize a dozing cow in the middle of the bazaar. 5. Keep informative books in the glove compartment. You may read them during traffic jams, while awaiting the chief minister's motorcade, or waiting for the rain waters to recede when over-ground traffic meets underground drainage. 6. Night driving on Indian roads can be an exhilarating experience (for those with the mental makeup of Genghis Khan). In a way, it is like playing Russian roulette, because you do not know who amongst the drivers is loaded. What looks like premature dawn on the horizon turns out to be a truck attempting a speed record. On encountering it, just pull partly into the field adjoining the road until the phenomenon passes. Our roads do not have shoulders, but occasional boulders. Do not blink your lights expecting reciprocation. The only dim thing in the truck is the driver and the peg of illicit arrack he has had at the last stop; his total cerebral functions add up to little more than a naught. Truck drivers are the James Bonds of India and are licensed to kill. Often you may encounter a single powerful beam of light about six feet above the ground. This is not a super motorbike, but a truck approaching you with a single light on, usually the left one. It could be the right one, but never get too close to investigate. You may prove your point posthumously. Of course, all this occurs at night, on the trunk roads. During the daytime, trucks are more visible, except that the drivers will never show any signal. (And you must watch for the absent signals; they are a greater threat.) Only, you will often observe that the cleaner that sits next to the driver will project his hand and wave hysterically. This is definitely not to be construed as a signal for a left turn. The waving is just an expression of physical relief on a hot day. Occasionally you might see what looks like an UFO with blinking colored lights and weird sounds emanating from within. This is an illuminated bus, full of happy pilgrims singing bhajans. These pilgrim buses go at breakneck speed, seeking contact with the Almighty, often meeting with success. Unique to Indian traffic: Auto Rickshaw (Baby Taxi) The result of a collision between a rickshaw and an automobile, this three-wheeled vehicle works on an external combustion engine that runs on a mixture of kerosene oil and creosote. This triangular vehicle carries iron rods, gas cylinders or passengers three times its weight and dimension, at an unspecified fare. After careful geometric calculations, children are folded and packed into these auto rickshaws until some children in the periphery are not in contact with the vehicle at all. Then their school bags are pushed into the microscopic gaps all round so those minor collisions with other vehicles on the road cause no permanent damage. Of course, the peripheral children are charged half the fare and also learn Newton's laws of motion en route to school. Auto-rickshaw drivers follow the road rules depicted in the film Ben Hur and are licensed to irritate. Mopeds The moped looks like an oil tin on wheels and makes noise like an electric shaver. It runs 30 miles on a teaspoon of petrol and travels at break-bottom speed. As the sides of the road are too rough for a ride

Resolved Question: My auto insurance company failed to pay all of my medical bills. Can I get the money to pay them off?
(Tue, 09 Feb 2010 14:57:48 GMT)
I was in an automobile accident in late 2007. I was fully covered by my auto insurance and had excellent health care coverage through my work. My car insurance company said that they would take care of all of the medical expenses. I was under the impression that everything was correctly paid and I have since change auto insurance companies after finding a better rate. Fast forward a year, I apply for a loan for a new car. My credit union informs me that I have two collections on my credit report. It turns out that my old auto insurance company failed to pay for an X-ray and another minor medical bill, for a combined cost of about 400 dollars. Can I go back to my old auto insurance company to get the money to pay off these old medical bills? It's so frustrating knowing that I pay all of my bills on time and try so hard to keep good credit. Thanks for the help. My auto insurance company dealt with the hospital directly. I was never required to provide any medical bills what-so-ever. I know that my coverage wasn't exhausted. My overall bills totaled around $4,000, which was less than my medical limits. I never received any bills from the hospital, nor did anyone call me. If I had I would have just paid them to avoid any negative marks on my credit report. I did move roughly 7-8 months following the accident, but I did forward my mail through the post office.

Voting Question: If I had to choose between democrat and republican, which would i fit in best?
(Sun, 07 Feb 2010 06:24:53 GMT)
-I support tariffs on goods produced by US companies whose outsourced labor force exceeds 50%, to coerce in returning to the US. -Providing tax cuts and other incentives to US and international companies to settle or resettle in the US. -My ideal is to have US exports once again surpass imports. -Cutting all unnecessary, wasteful, and inefficient programs, and placing time caps on welfare and switching some welfare programs to workfare and jobs in the private sector. -I want 100% pure American energy. NO MORE FOREIGN ENERGY! I support coal, oil, nuclear, biofuels, wind, solar, geothermal...i want it done now, and immediately. No more waiting. -I support more government contracts with private american companies to develop new technologies and to work on large infrastructure projects. (example: working with verizon to work on universal wifi access for nominal fee to families)...or with car companies to develop new, more advanced fuel-efficient automobiles. -I oppose bailouts to any private company, especially when they are one-sided blank checks that dont work. -i support second amendment rights to own a firearm for protecting property and for sport but i also support background checks. -i support same sex marriage -i oppose federal funding for elective abortions, but I do not oppose abortions paid with a woman's private funds. -i oppose the wars in iraq and afghanistan but i support dramatically increased bombings with predator drones to disrupt terrorist networks and kill terrorist leaders. -i support the death penalty. -i support subsidized universal access to college education. If you get accepted in any school, you just need to worry about attending, you shouldn't be punished with loans for doing the right thing and working to be a productive citizen. -i support compulsory 3 month military training for all US Citizens, female or male, anytime before they turn 24. -A veteran contract for all members of the armed forces who serve more than 5 years which include lifetime health insurance, money to purchase a home, and lifetime decreased taxes. - I am very much against illegal immigration. I support dramatically increased raids, heavy financial penalties on any businesses that employs illegal aliens in the US, i support shortening the amount it takes to deport illegals, a large secure border that spans all the US/Mexico border, increased border patrol and technology, military presence/predator drones to combat narcotics/human trafficking networks. from what i've given you. which of the two parties would i fit best in? dont tell me independent or libertarian because that is not what i asked I support one large medicare that would provide coverage to every US citizen, permanent resident, and person with non expired visa.

Resolved Question: What does all of this mean (long paragraphs)?
(Sat, 06 Feb 2010 19:30:26 GMT)
(I started learning English when I was 8yrs old & I soon stopped speaking Italian. It's called adoption. I'm 28, so for twenty years I have spoken English, but wording like this just confuses me. I need somebody to summarize the following into simple English.) We have been retained by State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company ("State Farm") to attempt recovery of payments made by State Farm from the party or parties responsible for your loss. State Farm has also instructed us to include your deductible in the amount we attempt to recover from the responsible party. You may have incurred other expenses, in addition to your deductible, which were not covered under your policy with State Farm. Unfortunately, our law firm cannot represent you for any expenses other than your deductible. If you have incurred additional expenses and wish to obtain your own attorney to attempt recovery of those expenses, you should do so immediately and have your attorney contact us. If our law firm files a lawsuit against the party or parties responsible for your loss (to recover payments made by State Farm), and if a final judgment is entered in that cause, that judgment may bar your right to recover any monies which you claim are owed to you from that party. Please keep in mind that your policy gives State Farm the right to pursue collection of their payments, in your name, from any party responsible for your loss. You should not sign any releases nor accept any payment from any other party or insurance company without calling us first. These actions could jeopardize State Farm's chance of recovery. If you are contacted by anyone other than an adjustor for State Farm or an employee for this law firm, please obtain their name and the name of their employer and contact our office immediately. It is also possible that the claims we present will be negotiated and settled with the other party. This settlement may be for less than 100% of the claim and your deductible. Any monies collected in settlement or payment of a judgment against a party at fault will be transmitted to State Farm. They will then account to you for any monies you may be entitled to receive as a result of our processing the claim for your deductible. The time needed for recovery varies with each claim. Sometimes the process will not require any assistance on your part. Therefore, it is not necessary for you to contact this office unless you have obtained (or plan to obtain) an attorney to pursue collection of additional expenses which were not covered under your insurance policy with State Farm. However, we may contact you if your assistance is needed during the litigation process such as in responding to discovery questions submitted by the other party's counsel, giving a deposition, or appearing and testifying at trial. Therefore, in the event that you have a change in address and/or telephone number, please notify our office so that we may be able to contact you. Resolved Question: How does auto insurance work in at fault collision?
(Thu, 04 Feb 2010 02:58:09 GMT)
Hello, I am curious as to how my auto insurance policy would cover body damage to my car. I have comprehensive/collision coverage, as it is only a few years old and still owed by the bank. I accidentally ran into the side of my garage, and the front right side and bumper have scratches/dents in it. The nearest body shop quotes average in the 1800 dollar range for repairs, which I don't have. Can I have my insurance cover this, with a 500 dollar deductible, and if so, will it affect my insurance rates? My insurer is California State Automobile Association. Thanks.

Resolved Question: Y Is Every1 So Hung Up About Race N America?
(Wed, 03 Feb 2010 18:46:47 GMT)
Hello Folks: Why are people so occupied with issues concerning race, background, ethnicity, color and even sometimes gender so much? I mean in so many places, such as where I live, you almost can't do anything without having to mention what your race and/or sex is. You have to indicate what race you are when applying for a job. You have to indicate what race you are when applying for a house or automobile loan. Vehicle insurance companies want to know what your race is when you are applying for coverage. (Keep in mind that the lending banks and insurance companies charge different rates in part depending on what your race is. Isn't that discrimination?) I can give you some other examples. When I told my family that I had joined a book club, my sister asked me if my fellow club members were White or Black. After a woman at my job asked me if I had a girlfriend/wife and then tried to snag me, (Keep in mind that I don't date coworkers. It causes too many problems.) she then asked me if my online "girlfriend" that I already have was White or Black. Some other people have asked me similar questions, about whether she was dark-skinned or light-skinned. After my sister gave birth to her son, some of the doctors and nurses said that he resembled an Asian and asked what ethnicity her husband belonged to. Even one of her longtime friends PUBLICLY commented on him being slightly darker than her son when he was just born. I just want to know why are we so racially/color conscious. Does it really matter that much on what a person's background is? Do you believe that you are one of "God's Chosen People" and that other groups of people are to be damned and Hell and should therefore be kept from associating with your kind? I'm asking any of you - White, Black, Oriental, Hispanic, Arab, Indian, etc. What do you think? I admit that I am not perfect myself, but man, so many people ACTUALLY live by racial and gender identification and stereotypes far more than I do. For one thing, if someone can do a job real well, then that's all that should matter. I believe that on the inside, we as Human beings all belong to the same species, and that a large percentage believe that we all come from Adam and Eve, the First Two Parents. Do you agree or disagree with this? Do you think that America should continue its long history of division or are you cool with people of different backgrounds as long as their character holds merit? Tell me your opinion. Thank you. Web_Jock
