Open Question: What's the difference between California state income tax and state disability insurance tax?
(Sat, 19 May 2012 19:54:06 GMT)
I just started working in CA and noticed a deduction for state income tax AND state disability insurance on my first paycheck. My state income tax deduction was about .25% and the SDI deduction was 1%. I looked online at various tax calculators and none of them mentioned an additional 1% tax on top of the state income tax rates. Please let me know what the state income taxes are here. Thanks.

i was denied for workers comp by my former employer therefore i had to go on state disability for a year then my benefits ran out. EDD filed a lien against the workers comp insurance company and took it to trial. i have been notified that the liens have been resolved and disability says they will be receiving a check which will go back into my claim. does anyone know how long it usually takes for EDD to receive the check?

Resolved Question: continued ca disability benefits?
(Mon, 16 Apr 2012 00:15:48 GMT)
i received california disability benefits until my claim was out of money. an attorney as well as the ALJ who handled the case told me that technically the money paid to me was my tax dollars therefore a cost for me and that my employers insurance company would have to pay back the state for it. thus entitling me to that amount which would now be added back to my benefits claim...does anyone know if this is true?

Resolved Question: california online tax box 14 questions CA-DI vs SDI?
(Sat, 04 Feb 2012 02:06:10 GMT)
Okay I'm filing my taxes online again and I get stuck from a question about box 14. I already entered a amount earlier with the code CA-DI that it has and now it's asking me ----
"If any State Disability Insurance (SDI) was withheld from your wages and is shown in Box 14 of this W-2, enter the amount"
All I have is CA-DI in that box is that the same as SDI?
Thank you for taking the time to read and help me out!

Resolved Question: When I go on maternity leave can I receive DI and PFL wages? or is it just one or the other...?
(Mon, 16 Jan 2012 07:15:06 GMT)
I work in California, for the Los Angeles School District. Our union is the Seiu local 99. I'm pregnant with my first child and I'm doing my research on the way maternity leave works. I plan to work until I just can't anymore, even if that means I stay until the day before I am in labor, I'm due late April/Early May. I noticed there's state disability insurance, and paid family leave insurance. But after reading I'm noticing that they don't come together correct? I can only apply for one or th

Resolved Question: Has anyone on here ever been denied State Disability Insurance (California)?
(Sat, 03 Dec 2011 21:55:10 GMT)
I applied for it after I was laid off. First I applied for Unemployment, then State Disability. On top of this, I applied for both at the same time, because State Disability gave me disability retroactively to the time I was on Unemployment. I know you can't collect both, so I'm worried what is going to happen. I didn't do it to fraud the system. I have a phone interview with Unemployment next week. On top of this, I wonder if you can collect State Disability after being laid off. I'm n

The California Worker's Comp case I was involved in was actually both a Worker's Comp AND an Uninsured Employer's Fund case (boss didn't have insurance when I was injured).
