Voting Question: How do I apply for state benefits in California?
(Thu, 05 Aug 2010 00:46:21 GMT)
just turned 22 years old, and I am poor. I'm lucky enough to still have a roof over my head, but I am lacking proper nutrition, finances to afford health care. I have not been employed long enough to gain unemployment benefits. I am diagnosed with anxiety disorder (panic attacks at random) and chronic upper and lower back pain. If it wasn't for my illness' holding me back I would be working. I have been living with this disability over 4 years, was blessed savings and family support. But now

Resolved Question: Why is it every time I move my money, the Government is there to tax me?
(Thu, 15 Jul 2010 20:44:59 GMT)
When money moves from my employer to me, I pay: Income Tax, State Income Tax, FICA, and California Disability Insurance income tax.
When my money moves from my wallet to the cashier, I pay: Sales Tax
When my money gets invested I pay a fee for investing then when it gives me a return, I pay: Capital Gains tax
Isn't this getting to become serfdom? Where you just live on land and pay royalty to the king

(Sat, 01 May 2010 02:12:44 GMT)
I live in California, btw. So what happened is that I was taken off work due to extreme stress. There was no doubt that I really needed time off and was having a lot of physical and emotional symptoms due to the stress. It was mostly work-related, and I was taken off for almost three months. Even the man who interviewed me from the worker's comp insurance company agreed that the conditions under which I was working were horrendous. However, the worker's comp insurance company denied me, saying

Resolved Question: California Worker's Comp/UEF case settled via C & R. Do I still have a civil remedy available to me?
(Thu, 04 Mar 2010 06:07:55 GMT)
The California Worker's Comp case I was involved in was actually both a Worker's Comp AND an Uninsured Employer's Fund case (boss didn't have insurance when I was injured). So, after just shy of three years of BS with the Worker's Comp and Uninsured Employer's Trust departments of the California government, I "capitulated," and signed a Compromise and Release to settle my case. Because it was an Uninsured Employer's Trust case, my case never became an "accepted case" until right before it wa

Gov. Bob McDonnell:
Today, the federal government is simply trying to do too much.
Last year, we were told that massive new federal spending would create more jobs 'immediately' and hold unemployment below 8%.
In the past year, over three million Americans have lost their jobs, yet the Democratic Congress continues deficit spending, adding to the bureaucracy, and increasing the national debt on our children and grandchildren. [McDonnell Prepared Remarks, 1/27/10

CA SDI is California's state disability insurance program. My wife and I live in Florida but she works for a company in California. She pays CA SDI with each paycheck but now I'm wondering if she should have to since she actually lives and works in Florida.
Tax lady sounds right, but "most" is a fuzzy term. Admittedly most operations are in CA but a significant portion is performed in FL, and my wife's job is entirely in FL. Never a need to go to CA.

My mom is severely overweight, currently at 390. She has steadily gained weight for past 15 years. She has so much stress at work(at home for a health insurance company that denies any weight loss help in its coverage, no bariatric, no lap band, no nutrition and limited mental health)....she also has my grandmother living with her with dementia.
