I had an industrial disability settlement while I was married. Can my wife ask for 1/2 of it even though we've been separated for 12 years and it was in our possession while we were together? |

Resolved Question: Is W-2 Box14 entry for CASDI (California State Disability Insurance)a valid claim on Form1040 Sched A Line5?
(Sun, 18 Mar 2007 18:20:48 GMT)
Instructions for Line5 say to include "Mandatory contributions made to California, New Jersey, or New York Nonoccupational Disability Benefit Fund, Rhode Island Temporary Disability Benefit Fund, or Washington State Supplemental Workmen's Compensation Fund" which seems vague at best. I have scoured the web for information addressing this question. CASDI is certainly mandatory.

Resolved Question: Can you be fired for going out for surgery due to losing a child?
(Fri, 06 Oct 2006 01:57:28 GMT)
I lost my child early last month due to stillborn. I was unable to drive for two weeks and the narcotics they had me on prevented me from operating a motor vehicle. One of my jobs told me whenever I could bring in the doctors note it was ok. My other job was told but they terminated me for the fact that I "abandoned" my job when they knew it wasnt the case. Is this legal? Is there any action I can take against the company for doing this to me?
*added at a later time* I live in the State of Rhode Island. The company was notified the day I found out I had a stillborn (my first child) which was the day before I had the surgery. I called them after the surgery as well. I have been at the company for 4 years. I was able to collected Temporary Disability Insurance.
