I feel like I am losing my mind here. I can't work because there is something seriously wrong with my leg/hip/thigh & I can't get medical care, and SSI has denied me because there is not enough Medical information for them to go by they said. I cannot GET diagnosed because we can't afford for me to see a doctor. I've heard time and again how difficult it is to even get Social Security-and many have said you have to get a lawyer. I am 29 wks pregnant and having lots of swelling, back pains and on top of that my job isn't very accomodating (even after doc's note not to lift more than 10 lbs). They don't treat me well at all. I am given more and more additional tasks and its very stressful. I sometimes have to stay very late because of pressure and deadlines and a lot of these aren't even my job but additional tasks that othe rmangers give and my boss won't say anything to them.

Is there a good website/message board/web community that knows their stuff when it comes to dealing with insurance companies and what to do if your company drops you? (i.e. medicaid/disability...or other options)

I have a pretty good medical insurance plan but no short term disability or other type insurance to cover time off. I am 4 months pregnant and when I leave my job for maternity leave, it will be unpaid ( I will need at least a month or so off) and I still have a ton of bills, mortgage, etc. plus I have to pay my deductible which is $1500 plus 20% after this, so I am looking at a few thousand dollars I will still have to pay. In my situation:
I'm 16 and covered under my mother's insurance through the state because she has a disability- I'm moving in with my self-employed father who's covered by his wife's insurance (which is through her job). When custody get's switched over, I'm no longer covered by my mother, and my dad doesn't have his own plan. Since no one can afford 700 dollar bills every time I get a sore throat or tooth ache, what the hell should I do? Advice PLEASE.

I am 34 weeks and pregnant and am applying for short term disability. I work for the state(have been there for 2.5 years past probation period) and they offer a plan that you pay monthly(which I have had since I started) and if you do need long/short term disability you are able to get 40% of your pay. Well I know you need enough vacation/sick to cover your insurance for the time you are out, but how long can it take until you get your first check and is it weekly or bi-weekly?

I work full-time and I have health insurance through my job. I also help take care of my mother (though she's not really my dependent). With her medical conditions, and her recent trips to the hospital, she has medical expenses that Medicare does not completely cover (i.e. prescriptions).
