Voting Question: medically retired military retirement pay split?
(Mon, 23 Aug 2010 03:12:36 GMT)
My spouse was medically retired from the military after fifteen years of service with a 30% disability rating. They now state that they hate me in front of our children and wished for one of my children to die because she dosen't act like a soilder! I was told I wouldn't be able to get any of the retirement annuity because they were medically discharged. Is this true? We were married before they joined the military.

Resolved Question: Military Retired (20yrs) and VA Disability Lump Sum?
(Thu, 19 Aug 2010 06:03:25 GMT)
I retired from the Navy 3 years ago after 20 years of active duty service. I receive 10% disability from the VA at $123 a month which is then subtracted from my retirement pay.
I work with many former military members who did not retire, but were medically discharged. Some have told me that they were given the option of a lump sum for their VA disability if they were at 10 or 20%. I was never given this option. Is it too late for me to ask for it? Am I eligible since I retired and not

Resolved Question: Is this discrimination against a Veteran?
(Wed, 18 Aug 2010 04:24:51 GMT)
I am on TDRL (temporary disabled retirement list) from the military. I have a 10% disability rating from the AF and the VA. This disability (migraine headaches, developed after 5 months in the AF) causes me to miss work. There is medical documentation proving my disability. In a typical month, I might miss 1 or 2 days, but over the course of 13 months, there was only 1 month that I missed 4 days.
I worked for a temp agency whose general mgr advised me that she takes her meds for the migraine

Voting Question: Is Social Security and Disability the same thing?
(Mon, 16 Aug 2010 07:32:17 GMT)
I have worked most of my life. I will be 62 soon. I get a retirement check from work and a Disability check from the government. When I turn 62 they will cut my retirement check in half. They say I must sign up for Social Security to make up the difference. How does this work? Do I stay on Disability or do I switch to regular Social Security? I don't think you can draw both from the government. What is the best thing to do?

so you would not use them, leave them at home when you had them, call that number, and say do not me credit offers, more than once?.
Did they keep sending you blank checks which you could just sign and cash.
Did you keep getting credit card offers? Did have work done of
necessity , household repairs, etc., and get over charged you by thousands.?
I think I have accounted for about $8000 so far. Their friends are sitting here, ones who benefitted from my enemies benevolence in the past.

Resolved Question: social security disability benefits?
(Mon, 09 Aug 2010 05:45:05 GMT)
I am 58 and have been getting social sec. disability for the past 9 yrs. I was told if at age 60 I would not be entitled anymore because my condition is better. So if I went to work and retired at 65, I was told that regarding benefits the last 10 yrs of working is what will count. So that means that I would not even come close to get what I am getting now if I go back to work. I thought social security retirement takes in consideration all the years you worked.. Not just the last 10 yrs.. Is

Resolved Question: Under Social Security do kids of a disabled person keep receiving benefits after their parent turns 65?
(Wed, 04 Aug 2010 00:48:02 GMT)
Apparently at age 65 a person receiving Social Security disability payments is then considered to be receivng just retirement benefits. If that person still has a child under the age of 18 will the child keep getting payments? Will those payments be until the child is 18? Thank you in advance. It was not clear from the Social Security website.

So a cough is a disability now is it? I'm not disputing the fact that there are many people who are very genuine claimants but look around you and count how many you know who are on the hey-diddle-diddle. If they were all working and contributing, you'd pay less and have more in your own pocket! In the York area our local paper The Press is reporting more and more instances of people who are 'shopping' the wastrels. Would you do it if you knew for certain they weren't ill ?

Resolved Question: What do you think of this answer to the welfare state?

Some benefits in Britain are far to low and because job seekers allowance is far to low, many people claim incapacity benefit because after the first year of it being the same as job seekers allowance it rises by almost 40 pounds a week thereafter. 104 pounds a week.
I personally think a good 25% if not more of the claimants of incapacity are in this criteria. However, nobody ever said that the nanny state would be permanently responsible for maintaining the standard of living for all these

Everyone understands, whether they are willing to admit it or not, that Entitlement Programs such as Social Security, Medicare, Federal Retirees including the Military and the Military in general are the budget busters, the big things that will bring us down economically.
These expenses will not be cut. Any elected offical will be kicked out if he tries the same as he would be if he tried to raise taxes on the elite. It won't happen.
But my point is this: Conservatives will not admit to t

Seeing that they are they draw more welfare than anyone else.
So, they are a bunch of socialists then?
Seeing that they are socialists, why do they hate themselves so much?
Retirement, disability, and medicare are all forms of welfare.
To those on welfare, err I mean retirement and calling me lazy. I am working, to pay for your lazy butts. How about you get off your butts, and get a job.

Voting Question: VA Disability question?
(Mon, 07 Jun 2010 12:40:20 GMT)
I have a buddy that retired from the military. His ex-wife gets half of this retirement pay. He is applying to get VA disability. If the VA grants him disability, how does (1) affect his pay ie take home pay and taxable income and (2) affect his ex-wife? Say if he were to get a 50% rating. Thanks a bunch
Currently he gets $800, and his ex-wife gets $800. Would he be entiltled to more, say, $1200 and she gets less, say, $400, if he were to get a 70% rating?

my retirement disability is 2573.00 a month and I'd like to know what my salary would be if I were working and wanted to bring home that same amount after all the deductions are made?
