Like when 2009 or 2010 rolled around, would i still be receiving 50% base pay for that current year's income of an E-8 with 20

My retirement from the Marines is only $1900 (minus the $634) = $1266 (BEFORE taxes on that). I'm getting ready to appeal the decision through VA to try to get more of a % back. I'm confident that the VA rating will increase, hence lowering my actual retirement. So should I buy the 20 years back or wouldn't it make sense. Yes most people realize that our military can defeat anyone, especially given time. But we are nearly broke as a country, we simply don't have the cash to patrol the world and have bases in 130 countries, we are going to have to cut back and just have a few bases and a strong Navy and Air force but they too will have to sit idle more to save money.
