- Voting Question: crohns disease and the VA?
(Tue, 12 Feb 2008 21:27:23 GMT)
Navy retirement :
I was "retired" temporarily from the Navy for developing crohn's disease while on active duty. I get 50% of my base pay each month, and i am to be re-evaluated every 18 months for a period no longer than five years to see if my condition gets worse, if its better, if i am to be taken off temporary retirement, or placed on permanent disability retirement. (Mon, 11 Feb 2008 21:44:24 GMT)
Navy retirement :
I'm prior active duty Air Force (enlisted) and am looking into getting commissioned into the Navy. I'm curious as to what will happen with my AF time in sevice and the ribbons/awards I got while I was in. Do those things transfer over? - Resolved Question: Military letting people go?
(Sun, 10 Feb 2008 04:28:42 GMT)
Navy retirement :
I'm interested in joining a branch of the military. But I've heard horrer stories about people being cut right before the are eligble for retirement. Like my friend dad got let go from the Navy after 17 years, 3 before he would get a pension. How often does this happen? Is there any way to prevent it?
Thanks
I'm talking for officer.
So the only way to try and prevent it is to do the best you can at your job and hope and pray they don't cut?

Navy retirement :
I dont know what to do. Do i just take my copies of medical records and such to the VA, walk in the front door and ask what i need to do? Do i need to call ahead? Do i need to go early? - Resolved Question: What is it about the Neocons that they don't understand we can't afford all this military?
(Sat, 24 Nov 2007 01:20:23 GMT)
Navy retirement :
Yes most people realize that our military can defeat anyone, especially given time. But we are nearly broke as a country, we simply don't have the cash to patrol the world and have bases in 130 countries, we are going to have to cut back and just have a few bases and a strong Navy and Air force but they too will have to sit idle more to save money. I hear people say cut Social Security, but people have paid for that and many count on it for retirement and they did pay in, so its going to have

My decision for re-retirement must be made with more consideration this time based on medical care availability, transportation, cost of living, cost of housing, security, leisure time activities. (Mon, 27 Aug 2007 07:14:45 GMT)
Navy retirement :
I am trying to retire from the Navy Reserves but they are missing my time that I spent in the Army National Guard. If I can get this time then I will have the number of years necessary to retire. I've been out for approx. 1 year. I got out as an O-3 (LT). I was a navy nuke. I'm assuming it wouldn't be hard to go back in. I need someone to either dissuade me or convince me to do it. Things are sort of boring here on the outside, working in a cubicle. The only bad thing is long periods of time away from the family. The benefit is free healthcare (of course you get what you pay for), and 20 year retirement. Oh, and nukes get big time bonuses. Before getting out I qualified for DH
