I'm 24 and looking to start a Roth IRA, as well as a non-retirement account (for a house). Stipulations: I want to invest in something socially aware/eco conscious (I anticipate a huge movement toward the green trend...) with about a 10% return (long term) and low expense ratio, preferably a company older than five years, with some international involvement (Not that I don't love the US of A, but just in case we go belly up...). I heard from some of the agents about this company and their investment plans (may be their marketing policy). They say that, this company has bussiness in almost all fields like food,clothing,tourism,etc (except finance). They also say that the money invested by people in this company is NOT invested in any finance company or shares etc. so there is least chance of any risk. Having time on my hands will be fun but what did you find to be the most helpful when you stopped work. A certain book, an alarm clock, a schedule.
Is it important to have some structure, idea or else you will just sit around. I found a book "younger next year"...seems good. What did you do when you stopped the grind.
I don't believe one must work to be happy, that's the lazy man's solution. Iam looking for things you did to guide you in the right direction. If you have done it pray

Because of health problems I had to retire at age 40 about 18 years ago from IBM Dubai. So far I have been relying on banks and live from whatever little returns I got because my 'handshake' stayed in tact. I would like to maximize my earnings with minimum risk involvment. Four years ago i had a torn ligament in my left knee and had surgery,to repair.Dr told me i have no cartirage in both the knees and sooner or later i will need a knee replacement surgery.since i have not know any one personally who has done that,i am very scared for after effects,though my daughter is a MD(doctor) in VA.she also told me about knee replacement,but she keeps distance with me when it comes a profetional conversation,i can't ask any thing as i can talk to stranger for better help,
