(Tue, 10 Jun 2008 23:46:28 GMT)
Retirement homes :
I may be relocating so I'm renting until I know where I'll be. I'm hoping to have a home almost paid off by retirement. I'm planning on living on 30% of my income... regardless, I am very concerened about supporting my family. It seems like everything is hand to mouth and then once I get ahead, another unexpected happens! Just life I guess.....

- Open Question: Over Protective Parents?
(Tue, 10 Jun 2008 18:43:11 GMT)
Retirement homes :
I'm sick of all my classmates hanging at somone's house or going to the mall/cinema everyday. My parents don't let me do anything. I can't go out and play in my own backyard. If I ask if I can go to the mall with a bunch of friends, they say "NO. I'll take you instead." Even if there's still a parent there, they'll have the same answer ready. But I don't go to the mall. They always say they are busy. When I want to volunteer at the retirement home, or join a club. They'll say No. I'm busy. Aft

- Open Question: Should I quit my new job for my old job, even though I'm planning on going to ANOTHER job?
(Tue, 10 Jun 2008 16:54:28 GMT)
Retirement homes :
Not nearly as complex as the question reads. I'm 23, I'm a professional firefighter.
I was employed in City A, for about 4 years. I then accepted a job in City B. More on a whim, looking for a change in scenery, just out of a bad relationship, needed somewhere new. Not a fan of City B. Wouldn't call it a mistake, just took a chance and it didn't pay off as I planned. Well, I would like to go back to work in City A. I was told I could come back anytime, and I'll be a lot happier there.

After multiple strokes and serious medical issues with both, they are now dependent on social security and have depleted their investments and retirement funds. They still give me a check each month to cover their half of the mortgage, which is now "rent". They

But during an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press," Obama said taxing more of a person's income was the option he would push for if elected president. He objected to benefit cuts or a higher retirement age.
"I think the best way to approach this is to adjust the cap on the payroll tax so that people like myself are paying a little bit more and people who are in need are protected," the Illinois senator said.
Already Obama has said he will rais

- Voting Question: Buying house at a low price from grandma in order to have more equity in it. Partially gifted. Implications?
(Fri, 06 Jun 2008 18:41:33 GMT)
Retirement homes :
My grandmother is moving into a retirement home and I am selling my house and buying hers. She is going to sell it to me at a below market price. Are there any tax implications here? Basically she is sort of gifting some of it to me since it would appraise for more. I will get it for 20 - 30k below what it might appraise at. I am also wondering if I can use this as equity towards a down payment / avoiding PMI. Anybody that has an info or advice please share.

(Tue, 03 Jun 2008 20:02:05 GMT)

Old age retirement homes seem to be less safe for aging family members. These facilities are also crowded and expensive with a lack of staff.
Would a prison be a better place for grandpa? It's safe for seniors, food I'm sure is better, it costs the family nothing, healthcare is probably the same if not better. SO?
