- Open Question: Co-own house with parents - they need to file bankruptcy! Options?
(Tue, 10 Jun 2008 07:54:38 GMT)
Retirement options :
We built a home with my parents 4 years ago and have been sharing the mortgage payments equally. After multiple strokes and serious medical issues with both, they are now dependent on social security and have depleted their investments and retirement funds. They cannot cope with their credit payments and need to file bankruptcy. We already had their names taken off the title for the house. They still give me a check each month to cover their half of the mortgage, which is now "rent". They

Retirement options :
Last month, my boss asked me to leave my current position as there will be newcomer to replace my post. He offered me a job to the other company because that's my only option. One condition for me to get paid for the tenure of my service (18 years) is a retirement plan which is 1 month per year of service but I need to resign ASAP. I'm negotiating for a 2 months/year of service but he decline it as impossible since we really don't have an approved retirement plan yet.

But during an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press," Obama said taxing more of a person's income was the option he would push for if elected president. He objected to benefit cuts or a higher retirement age.

Already Obama has said he will rais

(Thu, 05 Jun 2008 18:41:15 GMT)
Retirement options :
I asked this question in more detail in the Investing category, but I was wondering in general if this is a good strategy:
IF my 401k options are mediocre,
BUT my Roth IRA investments are better,
THEN would it be best to drop the 401k options where they overlap with the Roth IRA and put most of my 401k into the stable value/money market option it offers? In other words, a conservative 401k balanced with a more growth-focused Roth IRA?
Thanks for your input! I'm 44 years old by the way, and a

Spending money in today??s society is becoming more and more of a hassle. What is causing so many people in today??s society to be so conservative with their money? The downfall of our economy has caused many of us to become very careful on what we spend our money on. There are many reasons why so many of us are trying to be careful with the money we earn. No one actually even has anymore extra money to throw around on items they know that they will not need to survive. Another reason t

My mother owns her house outright, but due to the stock market her retirement has dwindled to near nothing and will probably only last another year. She receives social security and my brother lives with her but does not contribute. My other brothers and I are trying to convince her to plan for this outcome but she feels like we are trying to control her. We believe there are more options NOW, instead of when she runs out of money. We want to minimize the impact to our immediate families fi
- Resolved Question: Would you prefer to have a retirement option added of a Social Security personal account ?

Retirement options :
American Solutions promotes an idea where you would have an option take the money you typically contribute to social security and invest it in the purchase of annuities. You could cash this annuity out at retirement and get a monthly payment. As an investment, you would likely earn more. You would still have the option of using the current system of putting away for your retirement, but this second option would be different in that you could pass on this investment to your family. The governme
- Resolved Question: Where can I move retirement money (that is currently in an IRA CD) when the IRA is due?
(Tue, 27 May 2008 01:26:57 GMT)
Retirement options :
I am 25 years old and have several thousand retirement dollars accrued from a job that I held for two years. When I left the job, I had to move the money into another retirement medium, and for security, I chose a 5% IRA CD (this was in June 2007 when you could get a 5% CD). It will be due in January 2009 and with the rates as low as they are, I'd like to move the money to another place that is still considered "retirement" that makes me more money but is safe. I have not been adding any ex

- Resolved Question: Why does my friend's company only offer mutual funds with front-end sales loads in it's 401(K)?
(Sat, 24 May 2008 17:12:41 GMT)
Retirement options :
I have an interest in investing and retirement planning. In my humble opinion, it is absolutely unnecessary to invest in mutual funds with a sales load. It is just throwing away money when there are so many quality companies such as Dodge & Cox, Vanguard, Fidelity, etc. that offer funds with no sales charge. I looked at my friend's retirement options through his employer. EVERY SINGLE FUND had a front-end load of between 4% and 6% and most funds also had 12b1 fees. Most of the funds offer

my parents wanted me to do some research for them on a sports car they are going to buy in retirement. The like the Pontiac Solstice, or its corporate twin the Saturn Sky.

but I did notice that it also said that this required premium fuel. which we all on here can agree, costs much higher th

Trying to figure out how to pay for school when you decide to go is very stressful. Receiving a scholarship would help me tremendously with my goal of going to school. The reasons I deserve a scholarship are cost, furthering my career, and to achieve goals I have set for myself.

I mean, the bhoys can barely win, even with the refs help, once a week. 3 one goal vicories in the last 3 games. Each one containing highly-controversial decisions, all in Sellicks favour.
Have a look at the subs from Saturday. Imagine 6 players were missing. Look at the options available.
Lennon, (the anti-football, er, legend) would need to come out of retirement. Strachan too. On second thoughts, Sellick must be there already. Otherwise, why are Hinkel, Naylor, Balde et al, ge
